FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ponca
City, Oklahoma - (May 26, 2008) - TBF announced today, that after an extensive search, it has hired a TBF National
Conservation Manager to support the Federations national, regional, state and local conservation programs.
Mr. Troy Limmer, will serve the TBF in that position. Limmer is currently the General Manager and Marketing Specialist
of a private company in Colorado Springs, Co. and serves as the Colorado TBF's State Conservation Director. He
is an avid angler who enjoys both tournament and recreational fishing. He is also a member of the Congressional
Sportsman's Foundation and an active member of the TBF Federation in his home state of Colorado.
"The leadership of TBF conducted detailed research on what skill set was needed to fill this role and interviewed
a stack of candidates," stated Mike Dunkerley, TBF Senior Vice-President. "When you look at the dedicated
volunteers, who are the TBF state conservation directors, they have the expertise to get the job done as they have
successfully for 35 years. We are blessed to have serving among our state conservation ranks, active fisheries
biologists, several professional environmental consults from the private sector, PhD's in analytical chemistry,
and others with years of experience in the legislative and conservation related fields. On top of that most state
conservation directors have an agency fisheries professional within their state who they can call on if needed.
With that in mind, and based on feedback we gathered, we felt what was needed in this position was not someone
to tell them how to do the work that they have been successfully doing, but someone to help facilitate it. What
we felt was needed was a proven performer, someone with outstanding managerial, marketing, leadership and team
building skills to support, focus and lead the group to new levels, we think we found that person in Troy."
"I have been excited ever since I heard that TBF was looking for someone to fill this position," stated
Limmer. "I felt it could be a position that would lend itself to someone like me to serve and help grow the
federation they love so much. Recently, at the TBF Federation National Championship, presented by the National
Guard in Charlotte, North Carolina, I had the rare pleasure of being able to spend an entire week with an elite
group of TBF State Conservation Directors. What I realized is that it is the state Conservation Directors like
Don Linder-OK, Dick Smith-NH, Bill Reichert-PA, and all the others that have paved the way for me and thousands
like me to enjoy our resources and the sport of fishing for more than 30 years. I am both privileged and honored
to be given the opportunity to lend my support in that arena; I look forward to working with all of them. Conservation
is without a doubt the foundation of our future and the cornerstone for our sport. This position is not about me
or any one person; it is about "us". Really the TBF Conservation motto says it all - TBF- Saving our
fisheries together!"
A large number of candidates applied for the position. After narrowing down the list to a manageable number, each
finalist made a presentation in front of all the state conservation directors last April during the National TBF
Conservation meetings. The feedback from the state conservation directors was weighed by TBF leadership in making
the final selection. Mr. Limmer will start in his role effective immediately and can be reached at troy@bassfederation.com
or conservation@bassfederation.com .
The Bass Federation Inc. (TBF) is owned by those it serves and is dedicated to the sport of fishing. TBF affiliated
